Chaotic Creative Writing Process for Poetry

My creative writing process is chaotic. At first, I freestyle/brainstorm freely for 15 minutes. During this brainstorm, I will write words and phrases all over the paper. Secondly, I will draw circles around words. Thirdly, I connect words and phrases that are similar or connect or have something in common. Fourthly, I will organize those rearrange the words in stanza format. Fifthly, I’ll rewrite the poem to make sense, using symbols and elements that are to understand, like humans, trees and common shapes. Next, I’ll think of uncommon symbols and characters to replace the original characters to make the poem more interesting. After, I send it out to friends to get feedback or reread my favorite poets and use their techniques or characters or even rearrange the writing style to sound more unique or to add meaning. Lastly, I’ll consider making changes and republish. My process starts as chaotic and becomes more streamline.
